About Us

mHIMSS is the globally-focused mobile initiative offered by HIMSS.  As a cause-based, mission-driven 51-year-old non-profit, HIMSS created mHIMSS as a platform for all stakeholders within the global mobile community to drive positive, transformational change in health and healthcare through the best use of IT. 

  • Our initiative focuses on the use of mobile and wireless technologies to promote health, improve the quality, accessibility and safety of care, and increase the cost-effectiveness of care.
  • mHIMSS builds on the existing HIMSS strengths of convening stakeholders, sharing knowledge, providing world-class education, public policy, research, and content – entirely focused on the use of  mobile technologies. 

mHIMSS Advisory Council

The advisory council is comprised of stakeholders from all facets of the global mobile community.  By harnessing the power, expertise, passion, and commitment of volunteer members, mHIMSS provides timely and insightful content related to current issues, trends, and topics associated with mobile technologies and mHealth.

mHIMSS Task Forces & Work Groups

Roadmap Taskforce, (must be a HIMSS Member to participate)
Chair, Dr. Mohamad Arif Ali

  • Updates sections of the roadmap as needed or directed by Board of Directors.
  • Create and present information on roadmap topics at various events: for example HIMSS13 Sunday March 3rd, Virtual briefings, etc.
  • During the mHealth Summit: schedule interviews with media to share information about the roadmap.

Legal/Policy Task Force (must be a HIMSS Member to participate)

  • Supports legal/policy issues in the mHealth space
  • Supports the mHIMSS Roadmap TF
  • Supports the mHIMSS Digital Media TF
  • Advises on all deliverables to maintain consistency with the HIMSS Policy Principles

Digital Media Taskforce, (must be a HIMSS Member to participate)
Chair, Jonathan Levoy

  • Develop information and content for the mHealth community
  • Work with the editorial calendar to blog, tweet, and post to LinkedIn important workgroup deliverables
  • Leverage mHIMSS newsletter to share news and information
  • Engage across traditional workgroups to share information
  • Address Hot Topics in mHealth including Apps, standards, privacy security, policy
