More than 100 medical groups throughout the U.S. have been using Allscripts Remote since the mobile app debuted last April, but with more than 160,000 physicians and 800 hospitals using the Chicago-based software developer's popular EHRs, the company has launched a Blackberry version of its mobile solution.
CEO Glen Tullman introduced Allscripts Remote for Blackberry during a webcast two days ago, during which he also unveiled Allscripts Professional EHR 9.0.
Capabilities include everything you'd expect of a mobile point-of-care app: quick access to real-time patient summary information, fast communication to local hospital emergency rooms, convenient e-prescribing, and real-time access to all the information a physician needs to make decisions, including medical history, lab results and medications.
Barbara Morris, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Community Care Physicians in Albany, N.Y., credits the mobile solution with making every aspect of her work more convenient, safer for patients and a little more fun. "This is what physicians have been waiting for, as it puts healthcare back in our hands," she said in a statement. Another physician who favors the mobile app is Dr. Richard Levine, president of ColumbiaDoctors, the faculty practice of Columbia University Medical Center in New York. Levine recently tested Allscripts Remote for the iPhone. As the advocate for 1,200 physicians at Columbia University Medical Center, according to a Forbes.com report, he views the software as a solid step in the direction of health reform, where doctors will have much improved access to patient information.
Users of Allscripts EHRs can try Allscripts Remote free for 30 days.
