MPoC solution drives hospices efficiency gains

The second oldest hospice in Louisiana is crediting its implementation of a home healthcare application that runs on cell phones, BlackBerrys and other devices with recent improvements to its information sharing and documentation at the point of care.

The Hospice of Baton Rouge (HBR) is a nonprofit, community based hospice that’s been offering professional medical care, social, spiritual and grief support to patients with life-limiting illnesses since 1984.

Since implementing Schaumburg, Ill.-based CellTrak’s mobile homecare management solution, HBR officials say they’ve seen payroll processing time drop by two days and mileage costs reduced by over $8,000 in the first two months of use.

According to Rev. Amy Ziettlow, COO, the mobile technology has enabled HBR to be better stewards of its community’s dollars while freeing staff to spend more time providing care to patients and caregivers.

The homecare software-as-a-service solution is touted for integrating seamlessly with clinical management systems, virtually bringing information that was once only in the office out to the POC for all to share.
