Personal health management system adds mobile apps

The maker and distributor of the MedFlash Personal Health Management System plans to kick off September with the release of the system's first mobile Web app. Called MedFlash Mobile, officials at Palm City, Fla.-based Connectyx are saying the first phase of this new enhancement will deliver emergency information to MedFlash members through the existing Web browser on their mobile phones.

This mobile app is intended to complement the MedFlash toll free emergency call center, Web-based access and portable emergency USB programs (a.k.a. in case of emergency programs).

MedFlash Mobile arrives as the first of several mobile Web apps that Connectyx has planned for MedFlash, all of which will be designed to enable the importing and exporting of vital information, as well as tracking of appointments and prescriptions with auto reminders.

With an estimated four billion-plus mobile phone subscribers worldwide, the Connectyx development team has already begun designing MedFlash mobile device apps that will target specific devices, such as iPhones, Android phones, Blackberry devices, Palm webOS phones and Microsoft Mobile phones. At this point, company officials expect these apps to perform hardware specific tasks, such as integrating glucometers and blood pressure cuffs with the MedFlash Personal Health Manager.
