rgrosssz January 23, 2012, 11:51 am Im a general and tTrauma surgeon, and for several years our program at EMMC in Maine has developed succesfuly. We have the perfect ground for telemedicine use given our weather and geography... For the last year we expanded our program to include mHealth (using handhelds to perform acute trauma consults) and so far are going strong. Newe applications which are being developed are going to make this initiave easier, since finally the industry is waking up and adapting to provide HIPAA compliant applications for video conferencing in mobile devices. Please watch my TED talk "iPod teletrauma" at TEDxDirigo.com. Iwould love to hear your feedback. Please distribute and share the talk ad lib. I believe that the more it gets around, the quicker we will brake the paradigm. Thanks
rgrosssz January 23, 2012, 11:46 am Excellent job!. I heard your talk at the mHealth Summit 2011 and was very impressed and gladly surprised by your work. Unfortunately I could not meet you to exchange experiences.I was shocked that the summit did not show more experiences like yours (or ours!) given that the topic was mobility in Telehealth. Lots of smarphone uses and apps, but not really much on the mobile video capabilities of the devices and the fact that they can expand the provider's reach to hard to reach areas, representing the perfect solution for addressing the mismatch between high demand for services and decreasing number of specialists available.
