An update from the mHIMSS Workgroups

The mHIMSS workgroups are comprised of HIMSS members who participate on various workgroups to provide some of the information visitors to the mHIMSS.org website enjoy. This blog will serve to highlight many of the accomplishments and valuable contributions these groups have made to the mHIMSS community and provide the community an opportunity to see “behind the curtain” of the mHIMSS workgroups as the groups focus on numerous emerging topics.

Currently, there are six workgroups focused on a number of topics – mobile device functionality, mobile FAQs, mobile blogs, mobile case studies, mobile policy and mobile design and what’s next.

HIMSS members in good standing may participate on any of these workgroups by emailing Tom Martin.

This month the Mobile Design group presented a number of design tenets, including What Interface, Going Mobile, Type Less and Less Type, Gorillas in the Mist, and Let Data Scream. All of this information focuses on how to maximize the design process across many mHealth devices.

mHIMSS blogger Pete Eggleston provided coverage of the World Healthcare Innovation and Technology Conference.

The Mobile Policy group provided a review of the HIMSS Public Policy Principles, the guiding document for HIMSS advocacy and legislative outreach, to include a focus on mHealth and the role of mobile technology in the delivery of care.

Finally, the mHIMSS Blog group released its first survey targeting mHIMSS/HIMSS and healthcare IT professionals to provide a baseline footprint for trending topics related to healthcare IT over the coming months. If you haven’t received the survey notification (or seen it posted around on HIMSS, mHIMSS, LinkedIn or Twitter), it’s not too late to contribute: https://delaware.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_9miRGNLmQJb8MT2.

Next month the Mobile FAQ group will be releasing 5 FAQs on Short Message Service (Texting) Implementation in the clinical setting and 5 FAQs for your mobile developer.

Please note that the survey differs from information collected and released by HIMSS Analytics in that the blog group is actively pursuing information on functionality and optimization of mobile devices.

Hi ShaMika,

The mHIMSS workgroups are available to registered HIMSS members. I tried a quick search for your name but was unable to locate you in the system. There is also a monitored email inbox associated with this site, mhimss@himss.org. If you are a HIMSS member please submit your contact information.

Hope this helps and look forward to speaking with you soon!

Best,

Tom

Hello,

I am interested in finding out more about the workgroups that are available through mHIMSS and would like to sign up for one of them. However, I do not have Tom Martin's email address. Can you please provide this to me.

Thank you,
ShaMika Williams
