Unfortunately, despite the hype in reality the telehealth portion ofthe total healthcare market remains miniscule. What we should be doing is working on generating a market first. To do that we need to first prove the benefit of telehealth with real evidence, not just cute anecdotal stories. We then need to work out how to get it recognized by the payers as a cost effective health service delivery method, and also sell it to the providers as an effective system that they can use and still make a decent living. If we can apply our marketing skills to developing a viable telehealth market, and remove the barriers to its adoption we may help make a difference.
