The Collaborative Health Consortium and HIMSS have announced the first-ever eCollaboration Forum, a one-day event to be held during the HIMSS12 Conference and Exhibition in two weeks in Las Vegas.
Formerly know as the Clinical Groupware Collaborative, the not-for-profit industry group focuses on developing collaborative platforms as foundations for transformation to accountable care. That platform will link businesses, care delivery ecosystems and technology – including mobile technology and tools – to improve the healthcare landscape.
Scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 23 at the Venetian Sands Expo Center, the daylong forum will feature a number of speakers and timely topics, including:
• Farzad Mostashari, the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, who will discuss health IT platforms and accountable care; • Former National Coordinator for Health IT Rob Kolodner, who will look at open health tools; • Kaiser Permanente CMIO and Assistant Medical Director John Mattison, who will discuss emerging strategies for care coordination; • Lessons learned from two leading web platforms – Amazon Web Services and Salesforce.com; • Discussion on the need for consumer focus and input on platforms with ePatient blogger Dave deBronkart; • A view from the edge of innovation with Esther Dyson of EDventure Holdings and leaders from HealthLoop, Iora Health and USC; • A glimpse at the future of healthcare platforms with Shahid Shah of HealthcareGuy.com and Vince Kuraitis of Better Health Technologies • The role of open tools and open data, including Blue Button data and the SMART project; and • Discussion on the changing business of healthcare with executives from AmeriHealth Mercy and the United Health Group.
“We've put together an incredible program around collaborative platforms in conjunction with HIMSS,” said Steve Adams, vice president of collaborative care and health improvement at Alere and chairman of the event, in a press release. "We have an amazing group of people who have committed to this movement and this summit, and I'm excited to be a part of it."
Due to limited seating, attendees are asked to register online as soon as possible. Those unable to attend can register for a live webinar of the forum. Attendees can also follow hashtag #eCollab12 on Twitter for forum information and highlights.
