Bud Relihan November 18, 2012, 3:44 pm The author talks about public cloud as it it is a homogeneous resource. Not true. Different cloud vendors have different products, each with different levels of service or features in the domains of security, disaster recovery, performance, and energy management. It is quite possible, even likely, that large technology firms such as IBM, Microsoft, or Google have more expertise and better infrastructure than a single provider (single CIO) could assemble. I totally agree with the author that emotion or "perception" will trump other arguments. Ultimately, could computing services will become ubiquitous and much like other commodity data services -- think cellphone service.
