QuadMed is adding telehealth hookups to its national network of worksite healthcare clinics, giving employees at selected companies another means of avoiding sick days, taking part in wellness initiatives and getting needed medical care for non-emergency issues.
The Sussex, Wis.-based company, whose clients include MillerCoors, Northwestern Mutual, Briggs & Stratton and STIHL, has signed an agreement with MDLiveCare to use that company’s telehealth technology in its clinics. Through the agreement, MDLiveCare will create a “virtual QuadMed” that links the clinics to its national network of board-certified physicians and licensed therapists, as well as offering integration with QuadMed’s electronic medical records system and Microsoft HealthVault.
"Virtual QuadMed will allow us to extend our approach to patient care to a geographically distributed workforce to increase access to preventive care, and further manage healthcare costs for our customers and their employees," said Tim Dickman, president of QuadMed, a subsidiary of global printer Quad/Graphics, in a press release. “QuadMed chose MDLiveCare as our telehealth strategic partner because its technology offers the best balance of customer functionality combined with seamless integration into our electronic medical records, delivering our patients the best continuity of care in a completely secure environment.”

Founded in 2006, MDLiveCare offers physician consultations through video, phone or e-mail. Late last year, the company announced a national distribution partnership with BenefitMall, a Dallas-based employee benefits broker services company, giving MDLiveCare a national platform to offer its telehealth services through health plans.
QuadMed, which got its start in 1990 as a small worksite clinic at the QuadGraphics plant in Pewaukee, Wis., now offers a national network of worksite clinics that offer medical care and preventive health services to employees and their families. The company employs its own medical staff and operates its own laboratory, pharmacy, fitness and rehabilitation centers, while contracting with local hospitals for specialized and advanced care.
